Don't worry, there won't be flannel, or rather, there won't be much flannel.

I'm on a Boat

I'm on a boat. I'm on a boat. I think of SNL and Andy Samberg's song whenever I'm on a boat. It's just so catchy.

Anyway, here is a few pictures from our Memorial weekend away. Check out my simple "I'm on a boat"/American red, white and blue outfit. Red pants make anything more interesting, I think, especially nautical blue and white strips.

See, I'm actually on a boat.

Shirt: Target
Tank: Not sure, actually
Pants: Younkers
Shoes: Payless

The turtle shell we found, sans turtle.

Yeah, there's no ball there, I was practicing my swing, plus my dog kept running up and stealing my golf balls. Also, good shot of my "I'm on a boat" shoes.

The turtle we found in the front yard and saved before he became like the shell we found earlier.

The lake after those crazy thunderstorms this past weekend. Crazy weather to drive through. We were driving across the U.P. on Memorial Day, the rain was so heavy it was hard to see and the lightning kept cracking. Then we would hit fog so thick the cars in front of me would disappear. But I was glad it was raining, especially in the Seney stretch.

I love short weeks! It's already Thursday. Yippee! Happy Thursday all.

Sisters in Floral

Last week it was my little sister's graduation so I decided to do a sisters' outfit post. If you're facebook friends with my little sister you might have already seen some of these pics as she is faster at posting than I am, apparently.

The middle one is graduating! I tried getting her to wear her grad cap, but she wouldn't. Boo.

Look how cute we are.

Or nerdy. I love the look on my sister's faces.

Sister's need to get together more often. Seriously.

I love the pairing of this skirt with just a simple white t-shirt. White t-shirts are chill. I wish I had another one that was a bit looser, with a finer texture. Just something I will have to search for.

I want a pink skirt. I am borrowing that.

I liked her pairing of a simple skirt with floral flats.

My outfit:
Skirt: Thrifted
Shirt: Forever 21
Belt: Target
Necklace: Vintage
Sunnies: Target
Earrings: 80's awesomeness

I have alot more to share this week: snapper turtles, a boating outfit...okay, that's all I can think of right now, but there's more. I promise.

Oh yeah, here she is, finally in a cap and gown.

A State of Emergency

I haven't meant to be absent this week but time certainly can slip through fingers.
How weird is it that there is a state of emergency in the Yoop? The wildfires are...weird that it's happening here. Wildfires are out in california, not here. Yesterday we were driving across the u.p. and about a half hour from the bridge we ran into what we thought was fog. Rolled down the windows and the scent of burning hung in the air. We figured it was smoke from the fire by Tahquamenon. Hopefully the fires can be contained soon. And hopefully it rains so the burn ban can be lifted and we can roast marshmallows over a campfire instead of the gas stove.

I just got the iPhone yesterday and so this is my first post from it. It's a little slow typing...but, I can be super old school. When writing I much prefer paper and pen to a computer. There is something so much more...satisfying with pen and paper than a computer screen and now a phone screen.

This dress I picked up at Target on the clearance rack. Target has a bunch of awesome clothing right now, too, by the way. I'm usually a little leery of maxi dresses because there can be so much fabric and an unflattering empire waist. But this one is more like a column which skims curves nicely. The day was a bit cool so I added a sweater and belted it with my awesome green belt (which was also on clearance at Target).

Dress: Target
Sweater: Forever 21
Belt: Target
Shoes: Burlington Coat Factory

Hopefully you all have a good long weekend.

Romantically, the Dead River

This is another part of the Dead River. It was such a pretty section. Romantic even.

I am trying to work on more easy, breezy summer outfits. Many of my outfits are more for work. And who wants to always wear something for work? Well, I do. It's fun to wear heels and pretty skirts, but when it comes to the weekend and you're just hanging out with friends heels and a blazer and a button-up are too much. My next outfit post will show this and hopefully I get some good outfits this weekend because it's memorial weekend. Woot. Woot.

Strike a pose.

It's like my toes are glowing.

My name is crooked. Oh no.

Skirt: Thrifted
Shirt: Target
Belt: Vintage
Necklaces:
Watch: Husband's Fossil
Flower necklace: Gift from a friend
Key Necklace: Maurices
St Paul Medal: Sacred Heart Religious Goods, on Washington in Mqt
Name necklace: Gift from sister
Wrench ring: Amazon.com
Shoes: Payless

I'm wearing enough stuff, huh?

The Lilacs are Blooming

One of my favorite flowers is the lilac, the scent as well. I'm always sad that they bloom about once a year. Sometimes there's a second round later in summer but never as much as in the spring. Not that what we have right now is spring. No rain and hot as balls. I've never really minded the heat. I can usually take it. But today I was just panting. Maybe because my mind is still in spring mode where I automatically reach for a light jacket or in this case a blazer, instead I need to find the lightest, thinnest cotton I can find and dance a rain dance. Right now, at 930 at night, it's a little better. It's cooled off to about 80.
What? What did I just say? It's cooled off to 80 degrees? What is this? End of July?

Makes me want to believe in global warming.

Yep, the blazer. Can be thrown over just about everything. In fact, I did throw it over everything this week. Like three different times. True story. Makes anything look business professional or funeral ready.

Dress: Thrifted
Blazer: American Eagle
Shoes: Payless
Belt: Forever 21
Sunnies: Target

If this hot weather keeps up imagine how warm Lake Superior will be in August. Like bath water. I might swim in it then. Joyously.

Hidden Beach

Sorry I haven't been posting. Things have just veered away from taking photos this week and last week. I had some good outfits that I missed too. Ah well. Sometimes life just...is life, I guess.
Last weekend we were at the cottage downstate. Only one photo kind of turned out on the dock. The sun was not in my favor that morning. But the rest turned out.

Dress: Old Navy
Sweater: Forever 21
Belt: Thrifted
Sunglasses: Target

I also included a couple photos from the Hidden Beach over by Wetmore. I unfortunately did not have a nice outfit on, unless you want a close up of my under armor. This beach is a little ways down the coast from Wetmores Landing. I'm not sure if the official name of the beach is called Hidden Beach or if its just hidden beach, sans proper noun, as in just a beach hidden by the twisting coastline of Lake Superior.

How neat is this beach? Cliffs circle it and trees growing at the top give it almost a dome feeling.
It's almost the weekend. And it's supposed to be a nice weekend in my neck of the woods.

What a new pair of sunglasses can do

This was the first very warm day so at one point after work I had taken my sweater and shirt off and put them back on later for pictures. And I didn't button the shirt properly. Seriously. I can be such an airhead sometimes. Those are the first couple of pictures and when I realized later that I hadn't buttoned the shirt properly I had my poor husband take more pictures. For just a regular button-up I wouldn't have worried about it but I like the details on the neck of the shirt. Check it out!

I added the sunglasses and, I think, they seem to bring a whole new level to the outfit.

Shirt: Thrifted
Sweater: Gap
Belt: Vintage
Dress worn as a skirt: Old Navy
Earrings: Church Bazaar
Sunglasses: Target
Purse: Gift from me mum

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
